These words represent values you will experience while attending this conference. During my 30 years of fundraising I have attended many conferences, and each time came away with valuable ideas or concepts I could apply to my organization back home. We learn from the presenters and we learn from each other.
What works for one organization most likely will work for yours. You will garner new ideas and best practices that will expand your thinking and broaden your horizons. It will help you fine-tune your program and in the end, help you realize greater returns.
Along with all the practical things you will learn in the few days we are together, we hope you will leave with new inspiration and with a renewed determination to enhance your program and make your career more rewarding. Take lots of notes, strengthen your relationships and make new ones, and leave this conference stronger than when you came.
I look forward to seeing you in June.

I’d like to personally welcome each of you to the 2018 PSI Conference on Philanthropy and Fundraising. The theme is Navigating Successfully to New Horizons because maritime pilots and captains understand the art and science of navigating and maneuvering a vessel safely through unpredictable or congested waters. A successful sea captain is skilled in plotting, setting, and maintaining a course using the compass and steering wheel; reading the weather and the tide charts to avoid adverse conditions; anchoring in sound foundations when storms do arise; and building strong relationships with his team.
We believe that the maritime analogy embodies the functional essence in the content of our philanthropy conference. We have plans to take you to new and exciting horizons, navigating through some familiar landscapes while moving into more challenging waters. We will anchor in the foundation and fundamentals of fundraising and planning in both English and Spanish and steer you through cultivating new tools from social media to face-to-face donor interaction.
I encourage you to take advantage of this unique educational network exchange, provided by the NAD and PSI; as this conference is not offered annually; we invite you to roam the decks of our ship during this journey to new horizons as you learn from the most comprehensive collection of experts in philanthropy today.
We look forward to seeing each one of you in June, at Fort Lauderdale’s Pier Sixty-Six Hotel.
