Marcy Heim, author, international speaker and development consultant, shares inspiring presentations and coaching to generate major philanthropy – artfully! Her teaching reflects over twenty years of in-the-trenches, major gift fundraising and management experience where she and her team raised millions of dollars by creating the genuine relationships she promotes in her presentations. She holds the prestigious CASE Crystal Apple, the AFP Outstanding Fundraising Professional award,  holds the AFP Master Teacher designation and is a CFRE certified instructor.

She is author of, “Empowering Your Board to Serve as Effective Development Ambassadors” which is currently being translated into Spanish for distribution throughout Mexico by the AFP International Foundation.  Her next book, “Invest in JOY!” is due out yet this year.

 As senior leadership with the University of Wisconsin Foundation, Marcy created a development program from scratch for the life sciences managing the advancement staff and programs through 3 successful multi-million capital campaigns. In addition, Marcy coordinated the regional development efforts for the UW-Madison in the Pacific Northwest for 10 years throughout the UW’s successful $1.8 billion Campaign.

Marcy’s firm, The Artful Asker, has been inspiring and serving a vast array of educational, social service, environmental, faith-based, healthcare and arts non-profit throughout the US, Canada and beyond with leadership training and VIP consulting programs. Her speaking topics include personal productivity, relationship management, team building and maximizing board/volunteer partnerships. Her instruction is unique in that it combines managing your personal mindset with the traditional methods/tools/strategies needed so both personal fulfillment and life-time major giving success is achieved.

Marcy has a BS in Biochemistry and Natural Sciences from the UW-Madison and secured her Professional Life and Leadership Coaching Certification in 2015. She’s served on the faculty of the prestigious, “Fundraising and Development for Non-Profits Conference” at UW Madison since its inception 24 years ago when she first introduced her remarkable 3-Sentence-Ask tool featured in Advancing Philanthropy and in her MORE Major Gifts workshops. Since then, this tool has empowered thousands to know exactly what to say to ask for a major gift.  She’s a professional member of the National Speakers Association.
